Dolly Parton to Get the CMA Lifetime Achievement Award
Tonight on ABC, the Country Music Association will hand out the CMA Awards to country music’s biggest names. At the top of the list — a Lifetime Achievement Award for Dolly Parton. Her name will be added to the list of previous recipients including Willie Nelson (2012), Kenny Rogers (2013) and Johnny Cash (2015).
The CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to “an iconic artist who has attained the highest degree of recognition in Country Music… an artist who has achieved both national and international prominence and stature through concert performances, humanitarian efforts, philanthropy, record sales and public representation at the highest level.”
Dolly, the embodiment of this award, has been a singer and songwriter since the early 1950s and is also an actress, writer, humanitarian and businesswoman.
