The Major League Baseball All-Star Game Tonight at Petco Park
Tonight the best and brightest of the National League and American League go head to head in the 2016 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The New York Mets’ manager Terry Collins leads the NL in the battle against Kansas City Royals’ manager Ned Yost and the AL will take the field at Petco Park in San Diego, California — a third time host city for the big event.
After months of ballots being handed out, wrapped up, the line-up was announced with top vote-getter the Royals’ Salvador Pérez serving as starting catcher for the American League. He’ll be playing alongside his Royals’ teammate Eric Hosmer on first base and four Red Sox players — shortstop Xander Bogaerts, designated hitter David Ortiz and outfielders Jackie Bradley and Jr., Mookie Betts. Second baseman José Altuve from the Houston Astros, 3nd baseman Manny Machado from the Baltimore Orioles and Outfielder Mike Trout from the Anaheim Angels will round out the starting line-up for the American League.
The National League infield will look like a typical game at Wrigley Field with Cubs players first baseman Anthony Rizzo, second baseman Ben Zobrist, third baseman Kris Bryant and shortstop Addison Russell on the diamond. Their teammate Dexter Fowler will join them in the outfield alongside the Mets’ Yoenis Céspedes and the Washington Nationals Bryce Harper. The San Francisco Giants’ Buster Posey rounds out the National League starting line-up behind home plate.
